A: About the Incubation Programme
What is the meaning of “incubation programme”? What will I experience during the programme?
In this programme, we would focus on incubating social project initiated by young people to create international social impact together! We welcome young people (16 -29 years old) from different countries to join this amazing journey to team-up with international fellows and develop social projects ideas together.
Can I join the program if I do not have any idea/ experience on initiating social projects?
Yes, we will guide you to develop your the social project idea with other international fellows in a step-by-step process. You would experience a serious of Mission Challenge, Training Workshop and Action Salon to acquire enough hands-on knowledge and skills to develop the idea.
No matter you are experienced in organizing fund-raising or social project, or you just want to know more friends and social issues from different countries, you are welcomed to join us.
In what extend would my social project developed by the end of thisprogramme? Do I need to really realize or make “prototype” for my social project?
During the programme, we would guide you to develop the idea and create an structured proposal and fund-raising campaign in an international fund-raising platform. To encourage participants to realize and act upon the idea, we would provide a Seed Funding (up to HKD 20,000) for outstanding projects in the programme and presentation session.
What is the difference between the “Gloacl Hero Action International”programme in August and the “International Incubation” Programme this time? Could I join this incubation programeif I was the participant last time?
This is an upgrade version of “Gloacl Hero Action International”. In this programme, you will not only meet new friends from different countries and explore various culture, but also develop a social project idea with international fellows and create social impact together!
If you have participated in the “Gloacl Hero Action International” programme in August, you are more than welcomed to join us this time! It would be our pleasure to have you sharing your insight and experience with other teammates this time!
Are there any recommended issues for the social project?
We would recommend you to choose the topic in one of the following SDGs theme:

B. Enrollment and logistics
How can I enroll in the programme?
Please fill in the registration form no later than 31 December 2020 (Thur), we will notice you with more details via email if you’ve been accepted to join the programme.
Is there any requirement/ eligible criteria for the participants of this programme?
We welcome you to join this programme if you are:
- Able to attend 80 % events in the programme
- Able to communicate in English
- Between 16-29 years old
- Equip with a smart phone, laptop/ computer and a stable internet access
Do I need to pay for any fee to join this programme?
The original fee of joining this programme is HKD 3,350 (~ USD 430) per head.
To encourage international engagement and participation of people from different background, we would provide sponsorship to eligible young with economic needs to join the programme for FREE. You may fill in the registration form and apply the the sponsorship
What happens if I am suddenly have other urgent matters during the programme period?
The mission challenges allow you to select the best timing according to your personal schedule and time zone to complete the tasks. It’s not necessary to complete all the missions, but we encourage you to try your best to complete as much as you can.

What are the important dates and events of the programme?
- Kick-off Session : 16 Jan 2021 (SAT) ( 14:00-16:00 GMT+8)
- Design Thinking Workshop : 22 Jan 2021 (FRI) (20:00-22:00 GMT+8)
- Glocal Action Salon : 27 Jan 2021 (WED) (20:00-22:00 GMT+8)
- ‘Action For World ‘ Presentation : 6 Feb 2021 (SAT) (14:00-16:30 GMT+8)
How can I attend thees events?Can I still complete the programme if I am not available to attend all the events?
All events would be conducted through Zoom/ online platofrm . You can join the events by connecting to our live discussions with your digital device. It would be great if you can attend able to attend 80 % events (4 out of 5) in the programme. But in case you are really not available to join some of the programme, you may delegate your teammates to be the representative to attend it.
Will this programme be potentially affected by the pandemic of COVID-19?
All the programme events are accessible using online platform, include training and mission challenges. You can connect with people around the world no matter where you are!
D. Mission Challenge
What online platform will the Glocal Hero International programme be using?
The Mission Challenge would be conducted on an mobile application called “Glocal Action”.
You can access to and submit the task easily through this platform. You can select the best timing according to your personal schedule and time zone to complete the tasks.
How could I submit the tasks on the mobile app?
The requirements of each task are clearly written in the App, you can refer back to these requirements. If you are not sure how to do these tasks, you can always ask your groupmates and other Glocal Heros for some tips in our Facebook Group! Our Glocal Hero Leaders will also be here if you need some assistance. However, remember to attempt before seeking help.
Do I have to form a team to participate? What if I don’t have a team member?
In order to encourage international interactions and co-operation, VolTra and “Glocal Hero Leaders” would help to facilitate participants to form groups of 5 people with diverse nationalities.
Your groupmates would go through the mission challenges and develop the social project with you. We will to try gather participants who have similar interested SDGs theme in the same group.
How can I do if I encounter any technical problem in the mobile app?

E. Seed Funding and Award
How much would the groups with outstanding performance receive? How would it be judged?
We would provide a Seed Funding (up to HKD 20,000) for outstanding projects in the programme and presentation session. Groups who raised most amount on the fund-raising platform would also be encouraged with additional amount of seed funding.
We would select the group according to the content submitted in mission challenge, the performance during presentation session and the fund-raising amount on the funding platform.
What do you mean an “outstanding” project? Is there any judging criteria?
The judges of this incubation programme would review your project base on the following criterias:

15% Empathy and Understanding
10% Storytelling and Data
What can I do to gain a higher chance to win the programme?
To be invested and fully in the process of the programme and be attentive to the project development! In addition, having close communication with your groupmates d and keeping a close eye on the latest news via Facebook may be advantageous!
If I successfully win the reward, how could my group receive the seed funding?
VolTra would invest in your social project on the fund-raising platform directly. You can retrieve the amount from the platform and utilize the amount to realize and develop the project idea.
